Do they have support groups for people like me? Where I would stand up and go "Hi. My name is Britten and I'm a Cold Weather Wimp. Where's the hot chocolate? And can someone please turn up the heat?"
It is 36.7 degrees this morning. For some of you that might seem like a heat wave. For this Florida girl, it's like an arctic blast.
When the temps fall below 55 on school days, I go out to warm up the SUV and turn on the heated seats for about 10 minutes before putting the girls in to take them to school. Funny thing is, I was born and raised in southwest Pennsylvania. Spent 28 years there in fact. You would think I would appreciate a break from the heat. Nope. I'll take 95 over 35 any day.
I'm supposed to be packing for our trip north for the holidays. (Yep, I said "supposed to be") My husband already has taken up 3/4 of the suitcase with his heavy sweatshirts and long underwear. I'm going to have to convince him I need my own suitcase. I did buy 2 pair of fur-lined boots and they are going to take up a lot of room. I also need space for my scrapbook supplies.
While I know I can't take much, I do need certain things. I wouldn't travel without my hair straightener so I really can't be expected to go anywhere without my paper trimmer. And ATG gun. Oh, and my Club Ruby January kit.

Britten, I had to laugh as I read your comments. I lived in upstate New York for 52 years and have been in Florida for 6. I have become a true Floridian-as soon as the tempos go below 50 I am freezing. I have to be at work early some days (anywhere from 4:30 - 6) and I really do not look forward to going outside when it is "cold". Yesterday, I commented on the temps of 40 and said it would be warm up north, but down here, I was cold. Guess it's true what they say about your blood thinning out when you are down here for awhile. I miss the fall season up north, but I will never complain about the heat in the south after these past cold winters.
The good news is it might actually be warmer in PA than it is in Florida at the moment :D. It's snowing up a storm in NY, with storm warnings till Thursday. DD will put on her pjs inside out and backwards in an attempt to get a snow day tomorrow lol. Have the girls seen snow before?
I am always cold in the winter. I am freeezing in this weather!! I need my warm weather to come back!! It was colder in Florida than in Oregon where my daughter lives today. The weatherman said this was the hardest freeze our area of Florida has had in 50 years!! Go away Old Man Winter!!
Colder in Oregon than Florida?!?! That's just not right at all...
Ms. Snap - the girls haven't seen snow since we were up there the December they were 6 months old. They are VERY excited about making snowmen and snow angels...but I don't think they get that snow = cold. (Breena keeps trying to convince me to pack her flip flops.)
You never hear me complain about the heat down here...even in the middle of summer. I love Florida and really can't imagine ever living anywhere else!
Britten - minus 14 wind chill factor yesterday in central Illinois. Ice, snow, sleet and winter advisory for today. And with all that, the only thing I actually hear is "Snuggie, Cocoa, Christmas Music and time with my girls!" We live in the country and often get snowed in - which makes for great family memories. Some get cabin fever - not me - as for HOT summers you can have them sweet Britten!
My motto is "I can always put on another layer in the winter, but cannot take off enough in the summer and without being arrested for indecent exposure."
Enjoy your time in PA! Happy Holidays.
