I grew up in Florida and always despaired that it was so green lol. Of course that's when people would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I would say cold lol. My only real requirement is that there be some sort of tree. Of course when my dad booked our first travel Christmas when I was in high school, I had to craft a tree on the murphy bed with strips of construction paper for branches and paper chains and ornaments. A pack of construction paper, scissors, glue and tape to stick it up with :D
We lived in New York until 6 years ago when we moved to Florida. Before that we would travel to Florida on Christmas break and one year my daughter drew a fireplace for Santa and made "snow" to make it feel like home. We now have a Christmas tradition and go to the beach on Christmas day. It sure beats shoveling snow.
Britten - it has been almost a week since your journal post and I am hoping you are more in the Christmas spirit now If not, come to my house and my girls will absolutely bring it to you. They are so excited about Christmas, we did get some snow yesterday, not much, but enough to put the final touch on CHRISTMAS IS COMING! I have a 9 and 13 year old who still get excited about decorating and the tree and 'keeping out of mom and dad's closet'. Christmas Music is blaring as I type this:) Off to church where there will be, undoubtedly, more Christmas Tunes Woot Woot (Oh, and I have a jacuzzi and some sand in the shed and can make your beach of that helps
